Drumsticks with Onion Chutney
Every afternoon after school me and my cousins would look forward to a home cooked meal by my grandmom. And quite frequently we would get sambhar-rice (lentil curry and rice) for lunch. A lot of times we would complain at the repetition of the menu. But we would enjoy slurping on the drumsticks in the sambhar all the time. Here's a variation with drumsticks my grandmom makes sometimes. This recipe is from the Palakkad region of Kerala.

Is there a recipe from your childhood you're fond of?
Ingredients:
- 3-4 drumsticks cut into pieces
- 2 large onions
- 1 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Season the drumsticks with salt and turmeric and steam it till it's cooked.
- Grind the onion and red chili powder into a paste, mix it with the cooked drumsticks, stir in coconut oil and serve with rice and pickle.
