Obama Called Kamala Harris Beautiful. So What?

Unpopular opinion: Christopher bashing has been uncalled for 

Everyone who's watched Gilmore Girls, has loved bashing Christopher Hayden. Yes, he's been the golden boy the Gilmores wanted their daughter Lorelai to marry. Lorelai was also right in leaving her parents home, as she was being forced to marry Christopher. Christopher isn't a terrible character or person as he's made out to be. He was, at 16 willing to get married to Lorelai. And 16 is a very scary age for teenage boys, especially commitment wise. 

Years later, when he and Lorelai reconnected over their share love for Rory, he was 32, the same age as Lorelai, but, he was like every other man, afraid of commitment and wanting to live a carefree life-- driving a motorcycle, trying to start a business, taking risks with investments, switching jobs-- this is something any youth (even Lorelai, given the option) in the twenties and early thirties would do.

I therefore feel, a lot of Christopher bashing has been uncalled for. This is the man, who has, in his words and in a way, waited for things to align between him and Lorelai. Sure, he said mean things to her when she said she was waiting on him. But, in all fairness, she had just dumped over 16 years worth of unsuccessful relationships on him, which was quite unfair. 

He's someone who wanted to be there for Sherry when she got pregnant with his child. And someone who very gladly offered to pay for Yale when he came into money. And someone who wanted to make things right with Rory, have regular calls and meetings with her. He really wasn't a terrible person. He just had a different growth arc as a person-- an arc a lot of men tend to do (though gender isn't any excuse for the way one behaves). but he just behaved in the way men tend to be.

Luke or Lucas Danes would seem more responsible, more mature, and a fall back kind of guy, but, he came with his own baggage (more on this later).  So, for now, I think we should give Christopher bashing some rest!
